PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective production method of &bgr;-1,2-mannobiose and its derivatives, where the &bgr;-1,2-mannobiose is the core skeleton of O-side chain polysaccharide (O-antigen) of a pathogen that causes opportunistic infection disease such as pneumonia and candidiasis.SOLUTION: Provided is a simple and one-step production method of &bgr;-1,2-mannobiose and its derivatives by oligosaccharide synthesizing reaction catalyzed by &bgr;-1,2-mannobiose phosphorylase from α-D-mannose 1-phosphate and one of D-mannose, D-arabinose, D-lyxose, D-allose, D-ribose, L-rhamnose, D-fructose and D-altrose as the starting material, where the &bgr;-1,2-mannobiose is a core skeleton of O-antigen of a pathogen. |
