<p>A linear array image sensor and a linear array image reader are provided. The linear array image sensor comprises: a light source; a lens; a plurality of sensor chips, the surfaces of which are provided with a plurality of photosensitive pixels; a sensor base plate; a socket for providing a power source and a control signal to the sensor and for outputting a sensor chip signal, wherein the sensor chips comprise two rows of parallely arranged sensor chips, a first row of sensor chips and a second row of sensor chips are staggered, the first row of sensor chips and the neighboring second row of sensor chips are each provided with at least one photosensitive pixel positioned on a same line that is parallel to the direction of movement of an original pattern, and the photosensitive pixels on the first row of sensor chips and the second row of sensor chips are disposed within an effective reception range of the lens. The invention solves the problem of image information loss, during image reading, that is caused by gaps that exist between the sensor chips of the linear array image sensor. Thus, the invention improves image reading quality.</p> |
