PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long body connection device and a connection method which can reduce workload, and prevent enlargement of the device or complication of a configuration.SOLUTION: A long body cutting device 10 is provided with: cutting means 17 which can cut an old long body RS1 and a new long body RS2 at an overlapping region WA formed by overlapping a partial region of the old long body RS1 with the new long body RS2; and first regulation means 21 and second regulation means 22 which can regulate movement of the old long body RS1 and the new long body RS2. A passage ST is formed so that the cutting means 17 and the first and second regulation means 21, 22 can pass through the overlapping region WA of the old long body RS1 and the new long body RS2. Overlapping region forming means 23 is provided so that the overlapping region WA can be formed by holding the new long body RS2 and passing through the passage ST. The overlapping region forming means 23 is provided to be capable of holding the new long body RS2 during the period from passing through the passage ST to being cut by the cutting means 17. |
