A hob plate 3 carrying at least one hot plate is supported by feet 10 projecting from an upstanding frame 5 surrounding an opening in the top of a kitchen unit. The frame 5 is held in place by straps 6 and screws 7 and is sealed to the top by a gasket 9. Each hot plate has a drip tray and a double heat-reflecting plate below it (Fig. 4, not shown), and the bottom of the hob plate unit is closed by a plate so that the complete hob plate unit is of less depth than the top in which it is mounted. |
