PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kana character input device that enables a series of user operations from a down operation through a slide operation to an up operation to input a derived character.SOLUTION: The kana character input device includes: a column selection section 103 for selecting any one of kana columns on the basis of the operation position of a down operation; an input character selection section 105 for selecting any one of kana characters belonging to the kana column as an input character on the basis of a slide operation after the kana column selection; a display operation detection section 107 for detecting a derived character display operation after the selection of the kana character; a derived character guide display section 108 for displaying an input guide 26 for selecting a derived character of the input character on the basis of the derived character display operation; an input character change section 109 for selecting any one of derived characters and changing the input character to the selected derived character on the basis of a slide operation after the derived character display operation; and an input character fixing section 110 for fixing the input character on the basis of an up operation.
