PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle shape detection device capable of determining whether equipment such as a rear mirror is mounted on either left or right of a vehicle and a car washer comprising the same, which realizes safe car washing missing little spot.SOLUTION: The vehicle shape detection device comprises a vehicle shape control portion 10 that forms a horizontal optical axis B1 formed between a light emitting device La and a light receiving device Ra horizontally opposing thereto and an oblique optical axes B4 (B5) formed between the light emitting device La and light receiving device La-x (La+x) that are far away by two scores or more, upward or downward, from the light receiving device Ra horizontally opposing thereto, and detects vehicle shape by repeating unit detection motion of rendering the light emitting device to emit light and rendering the light receiving device to receive light, for every optical axis and every light emitting device. The vehicle shape control portion 10 has function of determining the left and right position of the vehicle detected by the horizontal optical axis B1 on the basis of vehicle body detection results of the oblique optical axes B4 (B5) intersecting with the horizontal optical axis B1, relative to the horizontal optical axis B1 that detects the vehicle shape. |
