Silhouette (TM) face-lift sutures are reinforced using one or more small pieces of absorbable surgical thread 1 which each contain an upper hole 2 and a lower hole 3. Each thread is threaded onto the suture, located between two cones of the suture and its lower end is fixed to a knot of the suture whilst the upper end remains free to slide so that when the suture is pulled a cone pushes down the movable end to form a knot which grasps the tissue. The thread may be a pear-shaped piece of tape (figure 4). Multiple threads may be applied to a single suture (figures 8, 9, 12 & 14). Also disclosed are various needles for inserting the sutures (figures 10, 11 and 13). |
