PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared sensor capable of stably detecting a human body which remains still for a long period of time even in an environment where background temperature of a detection area fluctuates due to an effect of sunlight or air conditioning. SOLUTION: An infrared sensor of the present invention detects an object using the infrared sensor. The infrared sensor has: a differential circuit 402 which differentiates a detection signal output from an infrared detection element; a first determination circuit 403 which compares a signal based on a differential value by the differential circuit 402 with a first threshold; a reference value setting circuit 405 which rewrites a determination reference value to determine presence or absence of a detection object based on a comparison result by the first determination circuit 403; and a second determination circuit 406 which determines the presence or the absence of the detection object by comparing a difference between the detection signal and the reference value set by the reference value setting circuit 405 with a second threshold.
