[Also in Divisions F2 and H1] A work-table assembly for drilling and milling machines comprises a work-holding plate movable on a cushion of air on a base, the cushion being supplied by air jets and the plate being held fast by permanent magnets 15 when the air supply is terminated. Air is controlled by a pedal. The base of the plate is rubber-covered and may have protrusions of P.T.F.E. In a modification, the base has a rib (17), Fig. 6 (not shown), to guide the plate and movement is limited by screws (19). |
