The system (500) has a fuel return line (50) including a return pipe (51) for bringing back heated fuel i.e. gas oil, that is not consumed by an internal combustion engine (40) i.e. diesel engine, towards a fuel tank (10). The fuel return line is arranged with a fuel cooler (53) that includes heat exchange devices (100, 200) that is utilized for providing heat exchange between circulated heated fuel in the fuel return line and a chemical compound i.e. ammonia salt, from a storage device (60) of an exhaust line (70) that conveys outgoing exhaust fumes from a combustion chamber of the engine. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a reducing agent.
