PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an index representing the properties of the gradation of image data, close to evaluation by a human subjective point of view.SOLUTION: A controller 11 of an image processing apparatus 1 acquires image data representing an image from a reading apparatus 2, and functions as a gradation profile generating unit 111(generation means), an image noise evaluation unit 112(evaluation means), a gradation index calculation unit 113(calculation means), and a correction unit 114(correction means). The gradation profile generating unit 111 generates a gradation profile on the basis of the acquired image data. The image noise evaluation unit 112 evaluates the degree of the noise of the image on the basis of the acquired image data. The gradation index calculation unit 113 calculates an index representing the smoothness of gradation in the image, on the basis of the generated gradation profile. The correction unit 114 corrects the calculated index in accordance with the evaluated degree of the noise. |
