PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a thermal power plant, which overcomes the lack of inertial response elements and is able to meet transmission code grid requirements.SOLUTION: A method for operating a thermal power plant (10) comprises the steps of: sensing a grid frequency (F); detecting whether, in the case of an excursion of the grid frequency (F), additional inertial power (&Dgr;P) is required or not; if inertial power (&Dgr;P) is required, calculating the magnitude and duration of the additional inertial power (&Dgr;P); and supplying the additional inertial power (&Dgr;P) to the electrical grid (17) in accordance with the calculation via the electronic decoupling apparatus (15). |
