PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a foamed slag.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for forming a foamed slag on molten austenitic stainless steel in an electric arc furnace. The method comprises introducing a mixture of a metal oxide and carbon into an electric arc furnace, reducing the metal oxide by carbon in a position of an interface between the molten metal and the slag, below the slag, and forming a foam of the thus-formed gas, thereby to form the foamed slag. The mixture to be introduced in a form of a shaped product of briquette, pellet, or the like contains nickel oxide, iron oxide, iron carrier, carbon, and a given binder. |
