PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for measuring a temperature and a liquid level in a spent fuel pool (SFP) of a light water reactor without using external power.SOLUTION: A series of thermocouples attached to a cable 20 and attached within a spent fuel pool 10 can be used. The thermocouples supply their own electric power when heated by water exposed to the thermocouples in the spent fuel pool 10. A temperature in SFP can be measured with the use of the thermocouples. As thermocouples exposed to an ambient air detect quite a different temperature from thermocouples covered with water, a liquid level in the SFP can be guessed by measuring the temperature and comparing differences of measured temperature values of the thermometers. A cable 20 (having a thermocouple at one end) can be terminated at a position remote from the SFP. |
