A printing machine comprises an impression cylinder 8 having on one end of its shaft 7 a bearing ring constituting the inner race of a ball-bearing 19, the outer race of which is mounted in a housing 21, and on the other end a bearing ring constituting the inner race of a ball bearing 20, the outer race of which is mounted in a housing 22, a printing cylinder 2 which is similarly provided with ball bearings 13 and 14 in housings 15 and 16, respectively, and adjustable pressure means for varying the gap between the housings 15 and 21 and between the housings 16 and 22. The pressure means may comprise tapered members 23, 24 longitudinally adjustable in position by screw means, Fig. 2 (not shown), hydraulic cylinders, or screwthread devices. Fig. 3 (not shown). The shaft 1 of the cylinder 2 is mounted rotatably in bearings 3 and 4 in the sides 5 and 6 of the machine frame and the shaft 7 is similarly mounted in bearings 9 and 10 in bearing members 11 and 12 which are movable to trip the cylinder 8. Actuation of the pressure means adjusts the pressure between the cylinders 2 and 8 and moves the housings 21 and 22, which may be mounted in guides, towards or away from the housings 15 and 16. |
