Hinge arms 1, 2 are secured to a door and lintel respectively by screws that are not accessible from the outside of the door or lintel-- even when the door is open. Removal of a cover plate 20 on the lintel gives access to a bolt 17 securing a claw 15 on the arm 2 against a flange 16 on the lintel. The arm 1 is secured by a bolt 6 and a screw 13, the screw 13 passing through a threaded bore 7 in the bolt 6 and engaging a batten 8 which may be integral with a frame member 5. The arm 1 also has a flange 9 secured by screws 10. The screws 10 may be dispensed with and the screw 13 may be used also as a fixing screw for the flange 9. In a modification, the screw 13 may have a conical tip to engage the inclined top surface of the batten 8. The arms 1, 2 may be mutually adjustable in height by providing a threaded screw passing through the longitudinal axis of the hinge pin. Rotation of the screw adjusts the arms 1, 2 relative to each other.
