The present invention provides a light emitting package which improves the brightness of light and a backlight unit including the same. The light emitting package comprises: a lead frame including a first lead having a first side and a first protrusion unit which protrudes from the first side, and a second lead having a second side and a second protrusion unit which protrudes from the second side, wherein the first lead is separated from the second lead; a first electrode which is in contact with the first protrusion unit of the first lead; a second electrode which is in contact with the second protrusion unit of the second lead and has a different polarity with the first electrode; a light emitting device including an active layer which is arranged between the first and second electrodes; and a molding material which is combined with the lead frame and includes an opening to discharge the light generated in the light emitting device.
