This converter has entrance terminals connected to a secondary of a transformer and output terminals connected to a DC motor of a railway vehicle. It comprises:
- a main bridge having a first pair of terminals connected to the entrance terminals and a second pair of terminals connected to the output terminals, each branch comprising a controlled power semiconductor device (Ti) in series with an uncontrolled power semiconductor electronic device (Di);
- a snubber bridge comprising a first pair of terminals connected to the entrance terminal and a second pair of terminals connected together by a capacitor (Ks), each branch comprising a controlled power semiconductor device (Tsi),
said controlled power semiconductor devices are switched on or off by a control unit so that the capacitor stores energy from the secondary and releases it to the motor at the end of the conductive period in traction mode or to the secondary at the beginning of the conductive period in a regenerative braking mode. |
