The invention relates to a fan-filter system (powered air purifying respirator) 20, having a fan-filter device 1, a head piece 21 and a connection hose 22 connecting the fan-filter device and the head piece together in a manner allowing there to be fluid-communication. A spatially separate computer unit (30) has a wired or wireless communication interface (31) to transmit data to a control unit (6) of the fan-filter device and/or to receive data from the control unit of the fan-filter device. The remote computer unit (30) may be used for checking and setting device-specific parameters and software of the fan-filter device.
