A double-deck elevator is configured in such a manner that an upper car and a lower car which is disposed below the upper car are adapted to be capable of vertically moving within a main frame which can vertically move within the hoistway. A car position-adjusting driving device having a car position-adjusting driving sheave and generating a driving force for vertically moving the upper car and the lower car is provided on the upper part of the main frame. A first upper car-suspending wheel and a second upper-car suspending wheel are provided to the upper car. A first lower car-suspending wheel and a second lower car-suspending wheel are provided to the lower car. An upper car-side return wheel and a lower car-side return wheel are provided on the upper part of the main frame. The upper car and the lower car are suspended relative to the main frame by a car position-adjusting suspending body having one end and the other end which are connected to the upper part of the main frame. The car position-adjusting suspending body is passed over the first upper car-suspending wheel, the upper car-side return wheel, the second upper car-suspending wheel, the car position-adjusting driving sheave, the first lower car-suspending wheel, the lower car-side return wheel, and the second lower car-suspending wheel, which are arranged in that order from the one end side to the other end side of the car position-adjusting suspending body. |
