An extensible lamp bracket is rotatably mounted about a first axis a-a on a support 30 secured to a bent rod 20 rotatable on a stem 13 and carries a lamp 70 and a counterweight 60 on opposite sides of its pivot point, the support 30 defining a second axis of rotation b-b perpendicular to the first axis a-a and a third axis c-c perpendicular to the second axis b-b, and the third axis c-c being adjustably inclined to the first axis a-a by rotation about the second axis b-b. The bracket includes a parallelogram linkage 52, 55, 63, 61. In one arrangement, Figs. 1, 6, the support 30 includes two parts 31 clamped over the upper end 22 of the rod 22 to provide adjustable frictional restraint at the pivot. The parts 31 include sockets 37 rotatably housing trunnions 40. An end portion 51 of a limb 52 of the parallelogram linkage is rotatably mounted between bushings 41 carried by the trunnions 40. In another embodiment, Fig. 7, two support halves 311 have part-spherical recesses 77 which receive a spherical head 76 on a cylindrical rack 75 carried by the parallelogram link 521. The head 76 is contrained to rotate about the second and third axes b-b and c-c.
