PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which shortens time required for the first printing after recovery from a sleep mode while causing neither carrier consumption nor toner consumption due to fogging.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus (a printer 1) comprises: a photoreceptor 21; a charging device 22; an exposure device 23; a developing roller 34; a photoreceptor control part 72 which brings the photoreceptor into a contact state at an operation mode and into a non-contact state at a sleep mode; a photoreceptor surface potential calculation part 73 which deducts attenuation quantity of a photoreceptor surface potential during the sleep mode from the photoreceptor surface potential at the time of moving to the sleeping mode, to calculate the photoreceptor surface potential at the time of starting a recovery operation to the operation mode; and a recovery time application control part 74 which controls a bias applied to the developing roller in such a manner that the bias applied to the developing roller makes a potential difference equal to or greater than a prescribed value in the direction for preventing toner from moving to the photoreceptor with respect to the photoreceptor surface potential in the recovery process to the operation mode. |
