<p>[Problem] As functions called for in iron-type golf clubs, (1) spin performance, (2) trajectory directionality, (3) striking sensation, (4) followthrough sensation, (5) distance controllability, (6) flyer amelioration, and the like are cited, and so in order to satisfy these functions, an improvement is devised of the characteristics of an iron-type golf club by performing surface treatment of the soft-iron forged head in particular. [Solution] An underlayer of an electroless Ni-P plating film is formed at the entire surface of a soft-iron forged head, and a surface layer of an electroless Ni-P-W plating film is formed on the entire surface of the underlayer. When forming the electroless Ni-P-W plating film, heat treatment is conducted in the range of 300-700°C. The head is a wedge-type head comprising a pitching wedge, an approach wedge, or a sand wedge.</p> |
