Provided is a method that uses a minimal amount of acid or alkali, involves a simple process, is inexpensive to operate, and can separate out and recover lithium, cobalt, or the like with high yield. After vacuum-baking, pulverization, and sifting, water is used to selectively leach out lithium. To separate out said lithium from a minute amount of eluted iron or aluminum, after the aforementioned use of water to leach out the lithium, solvent extraction is performed while a complex-forming substance is added. Preferably, the oil phase obtained via said solvent extraction is subjected to, for example, a stripping-crystallization process using a solution containing a high concentration of a lithium compound, under conditions under which crystallization of said lithium compound progresses simultaneously. Also, an acid is used to selectively leach out cobalt from the residue left after the abovementioned use of water to leach out the lithium.
|
