An easily assembled furnishing article comprises a plurality of elongated ribs having a decorative contour, a support plate and a secondary plate. A notched interface is provided between each of the ribs and each plate so that the ribs may be engaged around the perimeter of the plates to define the outer contours of the furnishing article. The notched interface is sized for a friction fit between the ribs and the plates and for easy manual engagement without the need for tools. In one embodiment the furnishing article is a light fixture in which the support plate defines a center opening for supporting a light socket and the secondary plate defines a center opening to receive a power cord of the socket therethrough. The support plate can define a plurality of interior openings to provide for heat convection away from a light bulb engaged within the socket. |
