The rear ends of bumper beam extensions (17) consisting of a fiber-reinforced resin is affixed to mounting plates (25) provided at the front ends of front side frames (16) consisting of metal. Each of the bumper beam extensions (17) is formed in a hollow closed cross-sectional shape by connecting the joining flanges (21d, 21e, 22d, 22e) of a pair of left and right hat-shaped cross-sectioned members (21, 22) to each other. Rear support members (23) which are fastened to the mounting plates (25) are provided with ribs (23b, 23c, 23d, 23e) having closed cross-sections and protruding forward. The rear ends of the bumper beam extensions (17) are fitted in and affixed to the inner peripheries of the ribs (23b, 23c, 23d, 23e) of the rear support members (23). |
