The battery module has a connector (15) which connects the first battery cell (3) electrically to the second battery cell by an overlapping fillet weld portion (17). The overlapping fillet weld portion is formed by laser welding, plasma-arc welding or electromagnetic pulse welding. The connector is made of material selected from aluminum, copper, silver and/or gold. An independent claim is included for method for preparation of battery module.
