SILICA COMPOSITE MATERIAL, COATING COMPOSITION, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SILICA COMPOSITE MEMBRANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition capable of giving a silica composite membrane which stably forms fine structure and also has an enhanced barrier property.SOLUTION: A silica composite material is provided in which silica phases are dispersedly formed using micro phase separation structure of a copolymer (X) composed of a plurality of segments incompatible with each other as a template. A method for producing a silica composite membrane is also provided. The method comprises: (1) preparing a coating composition from a mixture comprising at least a copolymer (X') which is composed of a plurality of segments incompatible with each other and at least one of the segments having an epoxy group, polysilazane, a dried solvent, and an aromatic solvent under an inert atmosphere in a coating composition preparation step; (2) applying the coating composition in an application step; and (3) converting the polysilazane into silica under a moisturized condition after the application step in a silica conversion step.
