PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical roller mill which controls jumping up and down of coal lumps supplied and allows of improvement of the crushing efficiency and reduction of the air-blowing power. SOLUTION: The vertical roller mill comprises a housing 3 constituting a classification chamber, a crushing table 6 which is housed so as to have a blowing outlet 11 there around in the lower part of the housing and driven by rotation, two or more roller pressing units 12 which press a pressing roller 16 toward the crushing table so as to crush coal on the crushing table, a coal supply tube 23 for supplying coal lumps to the crushing table and a primary air supply outlet 8 for supplying primary air to below the crushing table. Jumping-up-and-down preventive members 18 which spring back coal lumps having jumped up and down on the crushing table are arranged between the roller pressing units 12.
