A high-pressure fluid pre-heater device 10 for heating high-pressure fluid to be sampled for analytical purposes and which meets at least Zone 2 of the ATEX directive, comprises a heat-conductive support element 12 formed of a heat-conductive material, a discrete fluid conduit 14 provided in and supported by the support element 12, a heating element 16 which is provided in and supported by the support element 12 so as to be spaced from the fluid conduit 14, and a temperature sensor 18 for monitoring the temperature of the support element 12. The fluid conduit 14 is formed of an inert heat-conductive material. A method of raising a temperature prior to reducing pressure of a small flow of high pressure fluid to counter the cooling effect of reducing pressure for analytical purposes is also provided. 15. |
