<p>A stereoscopic image display device 100 has a substrate 120 such as a colour filter substrate with black matrices 130 formed parallel to one another on a first surface and black stripes 165 formed on a second opposite surface. Each of the black stripes 165 has a width equal to a width of the corresponding black matrices 130. A patterned retarder film 185 is formed on the black stripes 165 and has first retarder patterns 180a and second retarder patterns 180b disposed over region between first and second pairs of stripes 165. The width of the black stripes 165 is less than or equal to twice an adhesion margin of the patterned retarder film 185. Other inventions relate to the stripes 165 and matrices 130 having greater or lesser widths than each other.</p> |
