A lighting device is provided comprising a side-light light guide located in a support that has an elongate opening for the passage of light emitted by the light guide; wherein the support and/or the light guide is shaped to provide at least one contact edge, and wherein the only physical engagement between the support and the light guide is line contact along the contact edge(s), and wherein the support has the form of a generally U-shaped channel having a base and opposing walls extending from the base, wherein only the base or a part thereof, or the walls or parts thereof, extends continuously along the whole length of the support. |
