A jet pump 1A has a sleeve 1B partially covering the outlet duct 30, so that fluid flowing through the outlet duct 30 flows back through the space 45 between the sleeve 46 and the outside of the outlet duct 30. The sleeve may have a lateral opening 43 above the end 36 of the outlet duct to allow fluid to exit. The pump 1 is able to prime itself, which therefore improves startup properties. The pump can be used in a fuel delivery system in a vehicle equipped with a saddle tank, figure 4, to transfer fuel from the passive to the active side of the tank, even when the fuel level is low.
