Producing an optical element comprising a body (14) made of individual layers, and having an optically active surface (12) and at least one structure (16) in an inside of the body, comprises applying a layer by layer on each other, and integrally connecting with each other by joining by introducing heat and/or pressure. The structure is sequentially formed in at least one layer prior to or during the application of the layers. An independent claim is also included for an optical component produced by the above method.
