The dental oven (10) has a dental restoration portion that is provided with heating device and heat detector. A control device for dental oven is connected with heat detector. The heat detector is formed as thermal imaging camera (30) in partially or fully open firing hood (12) to the area is directed above the substrate. The control device is located to determine two-dimensional image present in the form of a matrix image of the dental restoration portion. The specific muffle (26) is generated for creation of dental restoration portion. An independent claim is included for method for controlling dental oven.
