A temperature controlled storage system has at least two compartments 24 which can be controlled to have different temperatures. The storage space 22 can be accessed via a remotely programmable insulated door 18, which when closed can seal two or more compartments from each other. The storage system can include a refrigeration system 50 and an associated distributed heat transfer fluid for heat exchange with one or more compartments. The system can also include a plurality of containers dimensioned to closely fit the dimensions of the compartments, and in use, items can be delivered within the containers to the storage system compartments for temperature controlled storage. Prior to delivery, the compartment is prepared to accept the delivery following a user request and determination that a suitable temperature controlled compartment is available. The heat exchange fluid may include glycol, and a chiller unit can cooperate with the refrigeration system to dissipate heat from the refrigerant. Remote programming of the system may be achieved, for example, via mobile phone, Internet, etc (fig 12 b) interfacing with an access control module 40, and the temperature control arrangement may also include a heating system (240 fig 4a). |
