The present invention discloses an apparatus and a method for providing a cornering assist function of a vehicle stability control system. The apparatus for providing a cornering assist function of a vehicle stability control system according to the present invention comprises: a sensor unit that measures various conditions of a vehicle by using multiple sensors; a calculation unit that calculates a front wheel slip angle, a rear wheel slip angle, and longitudinal acceleration based on the measured value; a determination unit that determines the dynamic conditions of the vehicle based on the calculated front wheel slip angle, the rear wheel slip angle, and the longitudinal acceleration; and a control unit that generates a control signal, which is used to control the engine torque or the brakes of the vehicle according to the determined dynamic conditions of the vehicle, and outputs the generated control signal.
