A multimedia data processing method and an apparatus thereof are provided to prevent deterioration of quality of a decoded image by preventing multimedia data loss as improving a compression ratio of the multimedia data. Discrete cosine transform and quantization of multimedia data corresponding to an original image is performed. A DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) block is produced(S110). The DCT block is comprised of a DC coefficient and an AC coefficient. The DCT block is scanned with a zig-zag mode, and the DC coefficient and AC coefficient are obtained(S130). The DC coefficient is ciphered based on an encryption key(S140). A representative value of the AC coefficient is obtained and changed through a first mode(S150). A coding word corresponding to the changed representative value is searched with reference to a preset Huffman table, and Huffman coding is performed(S170). |
