PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image excellent in contrast, without increasing the power consumption of a backlight, even when an external environment has high illuminance.SOLUTION: When performing red display, green display, and blue display under a normal environment, these displays are performed by only a red pixel (R), a green pixel (G), and a blue pixel (B), respectively. Under the high illuminance whose external light illuminance is higher than that in the normal environment, when performing the red display, the display is performed by simultaneously emitting the other pixels besides the red pixel (R), when performing the green display, the display is performed by simultaneously emitting the other pixels besides the green pixels (G), and when performing the blue display, the other pixels besides the blue pixel (B) are simultaneously emitted, to improve screen luminance. At this time, the chromaticity of each color is deceased but image quality is not degraded because in the image quality under the high illuminance, luminance is more dominant than the chromaticity. |
