PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recovering noble metals efficiently from crude copper mainly comprising precious metals, metals more nonprecious than copper and metallic copper.SOLUTION: The method of recovering precious metals comprises heating crude copper mainly comprising precious metals, elements more nonprecious than copper and metallic copper in an oxidative atmosphere to convert a part of the metallic copper to copper oxide and thereby condensate the precious metals in the metallic copper and separating the copper oxide. The temperature of the crude copper is set to be 1299-1357K and the partial pressure of oxygen in the oxidative atmosphere is set to meet the condition of formula (1), where Pois the partial pressure (atm) of oxygen in the oxidative atmosphere and T is the temperature (K) of the metallic copper, so that copper oxide alone becomes liquid. From initiation to completion of the formation reaction of the liquid copper oxide, the liquid copper oxide is exclusively removed continuously or intermittently. |
