PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of an optical film for suppressing increase in a haze of a functional layer and achieving high hardness and excellent productivity.SOLUTION: The method aims to produce an optical film having a layer which is disposed on at least one surface side of a light-transmitting substrate and which comprises a cured product of a layer-forming composition containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a metal alkoxide and its hydrolysate. The method includes: a step (I) of preparing the light-transmitting substrate, a preliminary preparation of the layer-forming composition comprising an acid catalyst and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a metal alkoxide and its hydrolysate, and an alkali catalyst; a step (II) of mixing the preliminary preparation with the alkali catalyst just before application or simultaneously upon application, to obtain an alkaline mixture, and applying the mixture on at least one surface side of the light-transmitting substrate to form a coating film; and a step (III) of curing the coating film to form a layer comprising the cured product of the layer-forming composition. |
