PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus which can provide a selectable state of a selection area that exhibits high usability for a user in accordance with a relationship between contents, displayed on a screen, before updating and after updating.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: area selection receiving means for receiving selection of an area in which received data is displayed; first display form determination means for determining a display form of data displayed in a selection area received by the area selection receiving means; second display form determination means for determining a display form of data displayed in an area corresponding to the selection area, which is displayed in a screen after display of the screen is updated; selection area control means for holding a selection state of the selection area when the display form determined by the first display form determination means and the display form determined by the second display form determination means are the same, and releasing a selection state of the selection area when they are different.
