A system and method for authorizing access to a third party at least in part for medical records. The system includes at least one server that includes or is coupled to at least one central repository. The at least one central repository stores multiple patient files. A patient is registered with the at least one central repository using a sign in scheme and allowed to store the medical records associated with the patient after signing in through the sign in scheme. The system further includes a device for authorizing access to the third party for the medical records at least in part. The device includes a second repository storing a set of rules dictating access rights and levels for the third party and an access module that processes authorization of the third party for access of the medical records. |
