<p>In this display method, display luminous flux (2) propagates by repeated internal reflection in a transparent substrate (4), and, by emitting a portion of the display luminous flux out of the transparent substrate (4) for each internal reflection of said display luminous flux, the display luminous flux is emitted from substantially the entire surface of the transparent substrate (4), wherein the display luminous flux is formed holographically. This display device is provided with a spatial phase modulation element (3) for forming display luminous flux, a transparent substrate (4) in which the display luminous flux propagates by repeated internal reflection, and a branching means (5) which emits a portion of the display luminous flux (2) out of the transparent substrate (4) for each internal reflection of the display luminous flux.</p> |
