A drive device for a hybrid vehicle is provided with an engine, a speed change unit which is connected to the engine and changes the speed by an engagement device, and a differential unit which connects the speed change unit and a drive wheel. The differential unit comprises a first rotating element connected to an output element of the speed change unit, a second rotating element connected to a first rotating machine, and a third rotating element connected to the drive wheel, and changes the operating point of the engine by slipping the engagement device (S60) when the output of the first rotating machine is restricted (S10-Y, S20-Y). The change of the operating point enables the increase of the torque of the engine.
