PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive composition for volume hologram recording and a photosensitive substrate for the volume hologram recording capable of obtaining a high refractive index modulation amount with improved sensitivity in hologram recording, without hindering discoloration of a sensitizing dye, and also to provide a volume hologram recording body capable of achieving high productivity and high luminance.SOLUTION: A photosensitive composition for volume hologram recording includes: photopolymerizable monomers; a photoinitiator; a sensitizing dye for increasing sensitivity of the photoinitiator; a binder resin; and a compound including a thiol group. The photopolymerizable monomers include at least a photo-radical polymerizable monomer and a photo-cationic polymerizable monomer. The compound including a thiol group is a chain transfer agent of the photo-radical polymerizable monomer and is a polyfunctional secondary thiol compound having at least two or more secondary thiol groups in one molecule. With regard to 100 parts by mass of the photo-radical polymerizable monomer, the photosensitive composition for volume hologram recording includes the compound including a thiol group is included by 1.5-30 parts by mass.
