PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce possibility that a sentence is asked back and costs in the case of shortening a sentence by pruning.SOLUTION: The summary generation device includes explanation necessity storage means in which explanation necessity as a scale indicating how far explanation is necessary about independent words and the combination of the independent words is stored so as to be associated with the independent words and the combination of the independent words. A modification tree in which a modification relation using the clauses of a shortening object sentence selected from an input summary object document as nodes and using the sentence end as a root is expressed with an edge is created, and the group of the modification tress is created by pruning branches equivalent to the modification source from the leaf sides, and the expectation value transfer time of the clauses as the roots is calculated on the basis of the independent words included in a partial tree using the clauses of each modification tree as roots, and on the basis of the necessity obtained by referring to the explanation necessity storage means, and the modification tree in which the expectation value transfer time is minimized is output as a shortened sentence. |
