摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling an internal combustion engine including a turbocharger having a variable nozzle, in which the variable nozzle of the turbocharger can be reliably abutted against a butt position in a closing direction and impact of the butt can be reduced to control the nozzle safely to the butt position.SOLUTION: A method is provided for controlling an internal combustion engine including a turbocharger having a variable nozzle. On a closing side of the variable nozzle, a butt position is constituted as a mechanical limit position on the closing side. When a mode enters an exhaust temperature rising mode and the variable nozzle is controlled to the closing side, if an opening position of the variable nozzle is less than or equal to a predetermined opening position, a closing speed is lowered so as to be slower than a closing speed to the predetermined opening position, and the variable nozzle is controlled to the closing side at the lowered closing speed until the nozzle abuts against a butt position.
