A device 30 for retaining a valve guard 20 on a cylinder 2. The device 30 comprises an interface feature which is arranged to couple with a retention feature of an associated cylinder valve assembly 10 thereby preventing uncontrolled separation of the retention device 30 from the cylinder 2. The retention device 30 may be connected to the neck ring 4 of a gas cylinder 2 and may be a separate component or integral with the valve guard 20. The interference feature may be annular. The retention device 30 may feature a split and may be secured to the cylinder 2 using a securing bolt. |
