The method involves preparing a roller bearing (1). An equipment of the rolling bearing is connected with a sensor element (4) i.e. acceleration sensor element, and a storage element (5). The sensor element is activated. The memory element is utilized for measuring and storing shocks. The roller bearing is transported to a destination and arranged in a mechanical engineering unit. Stored data in the memory element is read out. The sensor element is utilized in a space in three spatial directions. An independent claim is also included for a rolling bearing.
